I was on my way home today and my "O/D off" light came on and I didn't touch the O/D off button, then the tranny temp light came on so i pulled over and let it sit then limped it home. I checked the tranny fluid, it was fine, normal color and everything. Its had no problems shifting at all in any gear. Could this be the tranny filter? or something else? PLEASE tell me i don't need a rebuild! thanks!

Same problem with my 2000 model, O/D off light came on, a little while later, tranny temp light.. Probable the PCV valve within the radiator on the return side for your tranny coolant has melted, and hopefully nothing is damaged inside. Go get a aftermarket tranny cooler and use that instead of the stock setup. At least pull the pan and check for metal shavings. My torque convertor ended up shaving off a great deal of metal after that had happened with me and trashed the tranny. What was weird, was that everything was still shifting good, but damaged bad. Just something to think about. Sorry for the bad news. Go get that cooler from autozone or any other autostore. G-luck
