    Well, since some of you guys might be a little lost with the acronyms (abbreviations) we use to describe some things regarding our vehicles, I figured I'd start a post with some common ones. Feel free to add on if you have some that I missed...

    - -negative

    40/20/40- a bench seat divided 40% on the driver's side, 20% in the center, and 40% on the passenger's side

    60/40- a bench seat that is divided with 40% on the driver's side and 60% on the passenger's side

    A- amperes (or amps for short)

    ABS- Anti-Lock Brakes

    AC- alternating current

    A/C - Air Conditioning

    ACCS - A/C Cycling Switch

    ACC - A/C Clutch Compressor

    ACD - Air Conditioning Demand

    A/C on - Air Conditioning ON circuit

    ACP - Air Conditioning Pressure

    ACT - Air Charge Temperature sensor

    ACV- Thermactor Air Control Valve

    A/C WOT - Air Conditioning WOT off relay

    ADC - Analog to Digital Converter

    ADJ - Adjust

    A/D - Analog to Digital

    A/F - Air to Fuel Ratio

    AODE-W - Automatic Overdrive Electronic Wide-ratio transmission

    APPS - Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor

    ARC - Automatic Ride Control

    A/T - Automatic Transmission/Transaxle

    AT- automatic transmission or all terrain

    ATDC - After Top Dead Center

    AXOD - Automatic Transaxle Overdrive

    AVOM - Analog Volt-Ohm Meter ABS- anti-lock braking

    B+ - Battery Positive Voltage

    BATT+ - Battery Positive Voltage

    BARO - Barometric Pressure

    BDC - Bottom Dead Center

    BFG- BF Goodrich

    BFH- big f#@$ing hammer

    BHAF- Big honkin' air filter

    Bias- usually referrring to bias ply tires or non-radial tires, but it could also mean to urge or give favortism to something like in a biasing block

    BL- body lift

    BLR - Blower

    BOO - Brake On/Off switch

    BP - Barometric Pressure sensor

    BPA - Bypass Air

    BPE - Bar Pin Eliminator

    BTDC - Before Top Dead Center

    BTU- British Thermal Unit

    C&C- Cab and chassis

    CAC - Charge Air Cooler (intercooler)

    CAD- central axle disconnect

    CAI- cold air intake (sometimes called an "FIPK" or fuel injection performance kit by K&N)

    cat- catalytic converter (eg, cat-back refers to exhaust kits that start at the catalytic converter and go to the back of the vehicle)

    CANP - Canister Purge solenoid

    CBD - Closed Bowl Distributor

    CC- cruise control, crew cab, or cubic centimeters

    CCC - Converter Clutch Control

    CCD - Computer Controlled Dwell

    CCO - Converter Clutch Override

    CCRM - Constant Control Relay Module

    CCS - Coast Clutch Solenoid

    CD- compact disc

    CDEW- Cold Drawn, Electric Welded (seamed) Tubing

    CEL - Check Engine Light

    FM- frequency modulation

    FMEM - Failure Mode Effects Management

    FMU - Fuel Management Unit

    FP - Fuel Pump

    FPM - Fuel Pump Monitor

    Fuel pump primary circuit - relay control side (85-86)

    ft*lb- foot pounds or pound feet (can be denoted lb*ft since multiplication is commutative) it is a measurement unit for torque

    FWAL - front wheel anti-lock (ABS for front axle only)

    GCM - Governor Control Module

    GEN - Generator / Alternator

    GH's - Ground Hawg Tires

    GND - Ground

    GM- General Motors

    GRD- electrical ground (ie, 0 volts)

    GRND - Ground

    OCC - Output Circuit Check

    OCT ADJ - Octane Adjust

    OHC - Over Head Camshaft (engine type)

    ohms- a unit of resistance

    OSC - Output State Check

    PA - Pulsed Air Injection

    PAIR - Pulsed Secondary Air Injection

    XK- Jeep Commander

    XM- a satellite radio company
