ive seen many times mentioned on this board that the 16.5" wheels dont have the special safety bead or something like that. today i looked at 4wpw showroom and there were several rims that didnt have this feature. 15's, and 16's. is this really specific to the rim size or is it more of a company thing.

The safety bead is a lip that comes back from the outside edge of the rim. That allows the bead of the tire to slide back (common when running low pressure) from the outside edge and not unseat. 16.5", 22.5" and 24.5" rims do not have this feature. I have seem a couple 18 and 20" rims that didn't either, but eveyr 14-16" rim I've seen has a safety bead of some sort, some more than others.
