Alright so I realized that since my truck has ABS it would have tone rings on the stub shafts up front. Could I still run a non-abs shaft incase my stock ones broke? I want to get spared but I'm not sure if non-abs will work? Or does the tone ring slide off?

it will, but of you run non-abs shafts on your abs truck it will throw your computer all off. For example i have 35 spline D60 shafts that are abs equiped and i dont have abs, i just now have a extra tone ring.

if the abs use the tone ring and not the hub, then you can use non=abs but it will make you abs not work right.

there is no difference in strength ot size between abs and nonabs stub shafts

In the tech article about replacing U-joints and hubs it says something about you will have a tone ring if you have ABS... But when I think about it I realize that the ABS cable goes into the hub... wouldn't that mean no need for the tone ring?

yes the tone ring is only required if you have the abs sensor on the back of the knuckle, not in the hub itself.

if you have the hub type abs, then you can use a stub shaft with or without the tone ring in it

Can you use the abs hub and bearing to replace the old style external abs sensor and tone ring. Will it communicate properly with the abs system? A question nobody has been able to answer. Hoping the experienced people here can help me. Thank you in advace! Nick
