after seeing my truck roll over 217,000 miles today on the way to work, my 96 F150 with the straight six 4.9 has to be the most dead on reliable vehicle ive ever owned. its had synthetic oil for a long time, i dunno if this helps, but its still running like the day i got it.

thank god for the Ford 4.9 :

Toyota 22r and 22re engine. My buddy's 4runner has 411,xxx on it right now. The only things that have been replaced is a starter, alternator, and 2 clutches. He's never even had the valve cover off. Dont get me wrong...Its slower than crap and ticks like no other but it starts up everyday and no problems EVER! I'm very impressed with Toyota reliability :bigthumb:

the dodge with Cummins has a MILLION MILE CLUB., there is a kid on the DTR that bought a 93 with 1 million miles on it from a camper dealer, and he has 20,000 more trouble free miles on it since bought., now thats dependable!, only replaced tranny twice, and a couple of alternators and all the little stuff. tires, bulbs, bateries, etc, etc, I hope mine goes for that many trouble free miles!. It might be payed off by then! :rotfl:

Can't beat the Ford 300cid inline-6, GM 3100 and 3800 V6, the CTD, and GM 4.3L V6 (if you keep an eye on the oil lines). Some of the Toyota and Honda engines last forever too.

My buddy's dad had a Park Avenue with a 3800 V6 that had 425,000 on it when he gave it away. It ran fine still too. My old Jeep Cherokee had a carbed GM 2.8L that was a turd, but ran strong at 250K when I sold it. My '92 Jimmy has something like 265K on the clock (swapped the engine at 235K due to a bad oil line that blew and caused a knock), it still ran alright but it had a pretty healthy knock after that so we replaced it. I knew a kid that had a 300cid inline-6 Ford in high school, not sure of the mileage, but we tried to destroy it when he was getting a new truck, and it wouldn't die. Put the pedal to the floor for about an hour when we played homerun derby, and it still wouldn't die. He finally just gave it to the junkyard.

Humm, my old ford van 4.9 six cylinder died at around 100,000 and my 83 ford mustang 302 at 98,000. I blew my early 80's 318 at 225,000 miles from a rear main seal that blew out on me. My 95 360 in my 2500 monster truck has around 125,000 miles and still goes great around the yard, not street legal obviously...

I'd have to say our 96 Honda Accord EX probably has 190k on it and hasn't given us much grief.

My first truck was a 1990 f-150 4x4 with a 300 and a 5sp. That has got to be one of the toughest trucks ever made. It had a 180,000 give or take on it when we sold it about 3 months ago. I miss that truck

i've got a 96 f150 too. i've got a 351 though. 189,000 miles with original drivetrain. it's even been lifted with 35's for about a year and half now (about 80,000 miles).

i used to have a 94 ranger 2.3L 5-speed. had 234,000 miles when i sold it. i guess i've just had good luck with trucks.

knock on wood
