I'm looking at a 1979 Chevy 3/4 Ton Pickup. Whats the difference between a K20 and K25?

Did Chevy have a big block back then or were they all 350's from the factory?

Chevy's had the K10, K20, and K30 which were the 1/2, 3/4, and one ton respectively.

GMC had the K15, K25, and K35 which was the 1/2, 3/4, and one ton respectively.

No difference in the trucks, or how they were optioned...just lightly different badging.

Big blocks were available then, but only in 1 ton 4x4s. No 3/4 ton ever had a big block until the IFS era--the D44 and 10 bolt fronts wouldn't take the torque and weight of a big block.

Thats funny, D44 and 10 bolts won't stand up to it, but IFS will.

i searched and found that in 1979 a k10 could be had with a 454, but not the k20 (which is kinda strange).

but in 1980 the 454 was available in the k20.
