I just bought a 1967 jeep jeepster commando. I need so help knowing where I can find the parts. I am needing a gas tank, new seats, steering drag link. I was also wondering can you put a power steering setup on it.
I almost bought a similar year back in 04. I googled it and found a few sites that were helpful. I think that is your best option since they are not all that common. By the way, where are you from in TX?
Also, earlycj5.com is a GREAT source of info. Plenty of topics on converting them to power steering. From what I hear, the easiest is to find a a pump from a late 60's, early 70's Buick 225/231 and use a steering box either from a CJ5/7 or a Scout.
I've got a '66 that's strictly for parts, but I don't have a gas tank for it and I think the seats I have are not original. I can check to see, though. If they are, I'll make you a heck of a deal on them. I do have the steering parts, but they are probably the original and in the same shape as yours :rotfl:
i have a 71 and have found these two sites to be the best resources for this jeep. you could have a fabricator make you a gas tank for the price of finding a good used one. Yes you can add power steering as it is one of the best upgrades.
thanks for the info. I found a site called jeepsterman.com. I have already called for the parts and price. He is really cheep on some of them. I while post pic.'s of the jeep when I start working on it again. Thanks for all the help. :bigthumb:
a small fuel cell would probably be a better idea than a used gas tank. Also seats can come out of anything. Go to your local junk yard and pick a pair.
Look up partsdude4x4.net he deals in new and used parts for the Jeepster . I have bought a lot from him over the last year . He knows his stuff , he also sells reg jeep stuff . Here's mine ...
