i would be willing to bet it has something to do with a limiting strap, if the middle axle drops too far i bet it would cause problems with the driveshaft that goes to the rear axle.

btw it makes me think of that show monster garage when they made the string ray mud racer.

were you being serious about your question? the chain is what is giving poweer to the rear-most axles driveshaft (which used to be a stock front driveshaft, that is now almost coming apart because it needs to be lengthened)

the way he has the u bolts setup on the very edges of the springs is scary as hell too, he would have been better off leaving the stock bushing ends on the leafs just for the a$$urance that a u bolt couldnt slip over the end. i like how that one pics shows like 15 zip ties hanging off the axle

or were you talking about this pic big will? if thats the case i would guess is is some sort of HARSH, LOUD, annoying soundsing limiting strap
