Ive been looking at putting a grill guard on my 2001 ram 1500 4x4 and I was wondering what brand yall thought was best. I kinda like the WAAG, but I wanted to make sure that it would be good and sturdy.
thanks

To me, the best looking and strongest grillgaurds are ranchhands ( http://www.ranchhand.com/main.html ). And, maniks also look really good and are extramely sturdy. My mom has rear ended two cars in her suberban and her manik has saved the front end twice. http://www.manik.com .

Hope this helps

Well i have a Manik brushguard and have hitten many trashcans, a brick wall, and even had an old lady hit me head on doin about 10 mph. All it done was crushed her bumper into the grill. LOL and all i it done to my brushguard was knock lights out of adjustment. But my Manik was well worth the money and its saved my butt a few times as well!

Smittybuilt, Never bent one of those. Don't get a bolt together one, get one thats fully welded. Unless you want chrome, don't think any company makes a fully welded one in chrome.

Autually they do, I have one that I never put on, the only thing that isnt welded is the headlight guards that scre to the center of the brush guard. It is for sale but I dont think I want to ship it. The first 150 bucks can have it, it cost about 4 or 5 hundred new. it has a scratch on it. Ill get pics.

For looks and somewhat durability, Smittybuilt all the way. But it is definitely not as strong as Ranchhand or Reunel but then again you also don't have 300-400 pounds of solid steel up front weighing your front end down either. If you are wanting to put a winch on then check out either http://www.ramsey.com/mounting_sierra.html or http://www.warn.com/InternetHome/

I like my MAAP brush gaurd! has taken out a few 2" diam. trees, and even a Ford analProbe backing in to it at about 5mph... hit many a snow banks too... still hasnt moved and I like the wider stance of the middle section... it is by far the widest that I have seen which in-turn makes the head light protectors shorter meaning stronger! heres a pic...

Yeah this one will fit a 1500/2500/3500 from 1995 to at least 1999 maybe 2000, i had it on mine for about 30 min. and on a friends truck for a week or two, it will fit as long as you dont have a body lift, if you have a body lift you'll have to make the brackets like I did, I looked around for pics on the internet last night, it was different from every brush guard I saw, it is all stainless steel tubing, only welds no bolts to hold the sides on. there are 4 or 8 small screw that hold the headlight protectors to the inside of the tubing around the headlight. There is no black on the thing at all, only shiny round stainless steel tubing. Maybe i'll go get it and take a pic to post.

Ranch Hand. Never met a deer it didn't like. (Those two holes in the front are where the fork lift picks it up in order to weld it on)

I cant really say the price, I only paid $200 for my entire front replacement bumper. I knew one of the (ex)managers and he sold me a "scratch & dent" piece. I just sanded it and repainted. They have just recently been bought out by another company and have many additional styles (still ranch hand).
