Looking at putting a some sort of coating on my new garage floor. Im currently looking at the Rustoleum Epoxy Shield. Looks like I need to buy 3 kits, since 1 kit covers 250 square feet. Anyone use this before? How does it look? How does it hold up? Any other companies that sell simular products?

I would look into something that doesnt conduct. Some paints will actually create a lot of static electricity.
Which could be really bad if your working on electrical stuff on your truck. :bigthumb:

I bought "Seal Krete". My parents used it in their 3 car garage. Its a 2 part process. there is some etching stuff you put down first. I am not sure if you leave it on or wash it off, (I haven't read the instructions), then the grey covering. You can get another color though.
They haven't had any problem, except where there was oil that didn't get removed first. there are a few small place where it didn't stick very well.

The only thing that worries me is cutting (torch) welding and grinding above it. So I am going to buy a .25" ply wood and cut a 4'X4' section. I can lay that under the area I am going to work on.
Like Jason says, "don't use the texture".

With vergin floor you shouldnt have any problems, as long as you remove all the dust and wash it down really well. To do a very good job, on a floor your size, I would imagine it would take about a week.

You going to have a sweet shop/garage.

I had mine professionally done, because I had heard nothing but bad things about the store bought stuff. I did it right after I moved into my house, the virgin floor still needs to be etched with muratic acid (pool acid) so that the floor will stick so to speak. I had it done by Premier Garage, they are all over the country. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. They did my garage cabinets also, the ones that are mounted up off the floor so you can spray out your garage. You can sort of see the floor here.

Sorry, I cant seem to shrink the pic.

My parents used the Rustoleum Epoxy a couple weeks ago and its already flaking off in some spots. Just dragging a floor jack across it scrapes it all up. Since im sure you will be using your garage quite extensively I wouldnt waste my money on it.

I recently bought a house and I’ll be moving next month. I was considering having an epoxy shield coat professionally installed since I intend to be there long term. Has anyone had this done to their garage floor recently, and how much did you pay for it to have done? The one I am looking at is approximately $4100 and comes with a 20 year warranty for a 3-car garage that has approximately 600 sq feet. This price includes surface preparation of the existing concrete since the house is not brand new. Thanks
