Welp, some of you are probably sick of seeing me post all over, but sorry - my job allows me access to the net all over the place, so I come here to waste time! Anyways, I would like some feedback on upgrades to the exterior. Fiberglass hoods with scoops, something with a Cowl Induction possibly. How about an aftermarket front bumper? Something "Large & in Charge" like a "3 angled" front bumper that has "D" hooks for recovery? A winch? How bout rock guards for the Ram 1500 that don't look doofy, yet work as a guard and side step.....
Just wanted to get thoughts and what upgrades y'all have done. How are the Ion blue headlamp replacements? Can you put a higher power aftermarket driving light in the stock mounting position??
OK - THINK I THREW OUT ENOUGH TO CHEW ON, INTERESTED IN YOU FEEDBACK!
Thanks!

As for bumpers, there are several winch bumpers out there.

The biggest is Reunel, 1/4" plate shell with 1/2" plate mounting brackets, big push bars, solid light gaurds, tow hooks, fog light holes, handle the Warn M15000, painted or stianless, nice finish.

Then Pro-Zap, similar to Reunel, but need to buy optional upgrades for same strenght, but then more expensive. Not a pretty, but strong. Handles the big Warn as well. Powdercoated.

RoadArmor makes several versions. Price is a bit better, not sure of the strength relative to the Reunel (which I have seen, several friends have them). Handles the big winches. Lots of options

Denver Offroad makes a lightweight bumepr of T6 6016 aricraft grade aluminum. Very strong, very light (relative to steel) nice finish, but repairing aluminum can be pricey. Used on EarthRomer.com truck.

No one makes a really functioning cowl induction hood for the Ram. I hear a shaker style hood is out soon.

I would not consider hood with scoops, etc if you wheel a lot in mud or water though

Thats a start

Well, I wasn't expecting to get such a whopper of info on the front bumper. though it possibly will be the first outside add on. I really wasn't looking for a "working" cowl hood yet more so for looks. I figured a cowl style hood would be more practical than the shaker style, as you had pointed out. I am into the mud and water when applicable, yet I would like to "sport" up the truck too.
Is there a Website for the Reunel bumpers? WHere are they at and I bet expensive to ship! Is it more practical to have a welder buddy of mine build one (with a 2" reciever for a removable winch?)

You can find Renuel info andpics at http://www.abhunter.com under the Reunel Bumpers tab. Fritz is an official advertiser and knows the family that runs the shop. They are located about 2 hours north of Sacramento, CA

Jason,
Checked out the website you provided for Reunel. I like the setup, yet don't want to get into the brush-guard and front end/headlight protectors. Is it possible to just get the lower portion that will go in place of the stock bumper?

Yeah, you can have it made to order basically. The basic is the bumper alone, then add fog light cutouts, then the push bars then the light bar then the light gaurd.

RoadArmor (http://www.trailready.com) has a smaller bumper but still built tough that does not have the top side stuff, just the bumepr itself.

BTW, do you know if you can mount a thin series KC on the stock bumper without impeding the hood opening/closing?

I have seen some lights, not sure of brand, mounted on the stock bumper. One guy had 4 across teh front of his truck.

It actually looked OK. I had thought of doing it myself for a while. His truck was a red sport with the balck housing on the lights. Good contrast of colors, not sure how it would look any other way.

Yeah, as soon as I can swing by and pick up some lights I want to install them! Guess I will have to submit for Tech! <IMG SRC="/board/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif">

I like the bumper, just not into the hoop style on the front end. Looks to cluttered.

If you drop Reunel a line @ http://www.Reunel.com they can send you an information packet in the mail. Also if you buy one, they'll install it at their shop (Yuba City, Ca.) for free...wait until you see the prices though...

Yeah, I saw the prices. One of my friends is going to build me one. He does mucho welding and is going to do some checking into on the materials. HE said he will be able to weld the original brackets to the new fender. I am looking forward to getting it done.
