Did the D44 stop in 1976?

I was curious to find out what year the D44 front axle stopped coming out on full size chevrolets? I heard 1976, is this correct?

actually from 77, some 1/2 and 3/4 tons still used the d44 but only til 1979. 1980 on was all 10 bolts in the half tons...

yep.........my 78 has a 44...79 was last year after that the 10 crap went in.

My '79 has a 10 bolt. GM started trying them in rigs in '78 & '79, then went to full production in '80.
