Dana 44 is a Dana 44 right?

Is the ring and pinion in a 77 international Scout Dana 44 the same as my 97 ram Dana 44? I would think so since I went to randys ring and pinion and there weren't that many part #s for the Dana 44 for different vehicle applications. Let me know your guy's input on this subject.
Thanks

as long as its not a high pinion you should be fine. IH (I don't believe) ever had HP.
god i thought our dodges were the only ones with those {expletive}ty cad units.

They are, but the center section hasn't changed since inception of the 30 spline side gears. The early D44s were either 16 or 19 spline at the carrier...once they switched to 30 spline at the carrier there have been little to no change.

I used a 1970 Jeep D44 TracLoc (from a rear D44) in the front of my 94 1500 Ram...even used the gears and the bearings were the same too.

Thats what I was thinking that they used the same internals and just changed the housing/axle setup. Thanks for the info guys :bigthumb:

There are also reverse cut d44's too...

read my first post
Could you put the knuckles and lock outs onto the rams 44 ?
No the inner C part of the ram axle where the knuckle attaches with the ball joints is kind of a dodge only thing the way they did it. The old (93 back) trucks would swap knuckles from GM's.
