I'm looking at putting together a run in Arizona primarily for fullsizes & I am wondering who would be interested.
At this point, we're looking probably sometime in November to avoid ARCA finals, & the jamboree.
I'm thinking a 3.5 rated trail, something challenging, but not something we can't get a moderatly built fullsize over... but not something you'll want to run if you fear a little body damage. Raw Deal is what I have in mind right now, but I'll keep any other suggestions in mind.
I already have set up coverage from 1 internet magazine, http://www.alloffroad.com & I am going to see if there's any interest from a second.
Anyone that would be interested, let me know & I'll be working on seeing what I can set up for this.

Yeah! I would be interested. I, though am expecting a baby within the next 6 weeks - depending on that - as well as the fact i am running a 1997 Dodge 4x4 X-tra cab and I DON'T want any "damage" to the truck. Post me back or email me at the below address. I would be interested in going either way.

Thanks!

I have a silly question - where is this trail located? I have run Rocker Panel Pass in my yota, how does this run your thinking of taking compare to RPP??

it's up off Table Mesa road off I-17... a couple miles south of Black Canyon City
I've never seen RPP, but I'll ask a few people I know to give me a comparison.
you "could" run raw deal with no damage, I don't doubt that... but there is the posibility you might slide into something that could get ugly, that's why I'm saying if you fear damage stay away...
how lucky do you feel? hehehe

NORULZ,
Well, I hope to get an idea of what this trail is like. I have been on Table Mesa to the north side of Lake Pleasant, so I have somewhat of an idea of the area. I have 2 other people who would probably bring their full size trucks as well!!

Thanks!

yea, we're doing Raw Deal...
we're heading out for the trail @ 9:30 from the parking area up there, Nov 10th. I'll probably try to get up there about 8:30ish... I'll have a map & directions here soon as I get around to doing it... I'll keep ya up to date

Are there Lockers FRT & Rear needed? LSD in back going to be ok? What is the worst of the trail and is body damage likely or unlikely?

ya know, I'm gonna say at least 1 locker would be a really good idea... limited slip should work, but it won't be easy. After more thinking about it, I'm going to say body damage is almost guaranteed for a fullsize. We're gonna go out to take some pictures this weekend, so I'll post some so you can get an idea of the trail.

Sounds cool!! What kind of protection (Not trojan) do you have for your truck? Rock Guards?
I await pictures on baited breath!

heh, ok, maybe I made an error in judgement at first. This run is going to require 2 things
#1 you need at least 1 axle locked... without it, you'll need to be drug through the trail.
#2 pretty much no fear of body damage.

I ran it in daylight today, & it's worse than I thought. limited slips will not be enough... maybe very tight Auburns in both axles "might" work, but it'd still be a fight. Factory limited slips wouldn't have a chance. If one of your buddies is locked & has no fear of dents, bring it out... but if not, I wouldn't even think about trying.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm - WELLLLLLLLLL - IS there anything else that would be a suitable trail for the "moderately" modified rig? Anything along the 2 or 3 rated trail that you know of?

nothing I know of... check out http://www.asa4wdc.org & http://www.azvjc.org
both got quite a bit of info on them... the VJC says jeeps only, but they'll accept almost anyone & are a great bunch of people that run the easier trails.

It's not the factor of fear towards the trail as much as it is towards the body damage. I didn't respect the Toyota I had and it showed, I respect this Dodge and hope to have that show! <IMG SRC="/board/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif">

Wish I'd be out there in November instead of Feburary... I'd love to go.

I'm not afriad of body damage or scratches cause I haven't gotten to fixin up the body so its nice and smooth yet. Prolly won't care to much after that either cause I do all my own work.

It's Arizona man, we wheel all year around... part of the reason I'm putting this together is to get us big trucks together so we can do this on a regular basis. I really don't know how many fullsizes down here are built as extreme as mine, but I have fun on the easier trails too, so we hopefully will get a good number of runs going. Let me know when your going to be here & we'll set something up.
Are you moving down here? or just visiting?

I'm not sure... I'm probably going to be moving out there in/around Feburary. If I don't move out at the beginning of Feb (my mom's getting remarried) I'm atleast gonna bring alot of my stuff out (60 gallon air compressor, bed, all the big stuff).

I will be in town before the 2nd of Feb (proably the 31st of Jan). And hopefully staying for good, but if not I'll be out for two weeks.
