Ok, I know its been a few days, and I thought I'd have the beast back together again but its been really cold at night here so I've been kinda slacking off on the rebuild, but tonight was a nice night and I got ALOT done.
I installed all of the new valve springs, retainers and locks. Note on this DO NOT buy the cheap Advanced Auto spring clamp compressor thing, it sucks. It blew apart into about 20 pieces the first time I tried using it. So I went digging thru my tool box and found the craftsman one I bought a couple years back but thought I lost or gave to someone. It came thru for me. Next disaster was when my airhold hose (I'll explain more indetail about this thing in my writeup) decided it wanted to blow apart at one of the joints, which lost the pressure I had in the cylander, which led to the intake valve on #7 dropping into the block. So I took the head off, got the valve out, used vicegrips to hold the valve inplace so I could reinstall the head and fix the airhold.
Finally after getting all of the springs changed out I installed my rocker arms. Man are the Crane rockers NICE. They have little springs that go between each rocker that prevent the rockers from sliding on the shaft. Its really nice looking (I have pics) I set all the valve lash one cylander at a time (2 full rotations of the crankshaft) than once more to check them in pairs.
Thats where I stand as of now. I'm going back down to start putting all the "little" things back on. I'll post a little later tonight. I might have it running tonight if all goes well <knock on wood>
Later,
-Chris
