Ok, I know its been a few days, and I thought I'd have the beast back together again but its been really cold at night here so I've been kinda slacking off on the rebuild, but tonight was a nice night and I got ALOT done.

I installed all of the new valve springs, retainers and locks. Note on this DO NOT buy the cheap Advanced Auto spring clamp compressor thing, it sucks. It blew apart into about 20 pieces the first time I tried using it. So I went digging thru my tool box and found the craftsman one I bought a couple years back but thought I lost or gave to someone. It came thru for me. Next disaster was when my airhold hose (I'll explain more indetail about this thing in my writeup) decided it wanted to blow apart at one of the joints, which lost the pressure I had in the cylander, which led to the intake valve on #7 dropping into the block. So I took the head off, got the valve out, used vicegrips to hold the valve inplace so I could reinstall the head and fix the airhold.

Finally after getting all of the springs changed out I installed my rocker arms. Man are the Crane rockers NICE. They have little springs that go between each rocker that prevent the rockers from sliding on the shaft. Its really nice looking (I have pics) I set all the valve lash one cylander at a time (2 full rotations of the crankshaft) than once more to check them in pairs.

Thats where I stand as of now. I'm going back down to start putting all the "little" things back on. I'll post a little later tonight. I might have it running tonight if all goes well <knock on wood>

Later,

-Chris

You are so right about those Crane rockers. I got a full roller Crane valvetrian for my 69 charger and its NICE!! They look just as good as the harland sharp's, but cost only half as much. Good choice!

Just think Chris, right now it's been getting down into the mid 50's to mid 60's at night here - you COULD work on your ride 24 hours considering it's only 82 during the day!!!
WANTING IT YET?!

You can stop tempting me ANYTIME now John Its 42 degrees here right now and DROPPING fast.

I left a note at work saying I'm not going in tommorow because I NEED to get my truck done. Its supposed to rain on monday and snow on tuesday and I'll be damned if I take the bike in the snow. That and tommorow is my buddies birthday and I'm taking to the stripclub tommorow night, and it'd be kinda cold riding the bike. I can't wait my ex g/f still works there and I'm gonna stay with her tommorow night

Tonight I hooked up all the wiring again, ran new vacuum lines, sealed the vacuum enhancer with RTV to help it hold vacuum better, put the carb back on and ran the fuel lines, mounted the pulleys and fan. Gonna put the radiator back in and hook up the hoses tommorow then it should be about done.

Later all,

-Chris
