accoustic/electric guitar question

482 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Chris
Hey All,

Looking to buy my wife a good acoustic electric guitar. Would like to be under $500 but am open to stuff over. We'd mainly be using it acousticly, but would still like to be able to "plug and play" so to speak...

Anybody know what is good?

I've had a few Takamine's and Ovations over the years. Great guitars for the money. Epiphone makes some nice "value priced" guitars as well. :bigthumb:

Takamine makes a good sounding acoustic for the $$. Not a huge fan of ovations; I had an Applaus for my first, and quickly moved to something better. Right now I play a Martin & Co. and love it, but it's probably more than you're willing to spend for a beginner guitar. However, if you check out some of the Taylor's and Martin's lower end guitars, they might be more in your price range and you still get awesome sound quality and playability. My .02
