I just purchased a pretty stock and solid 1986 350 4x4 K5 and now the fun begins. my back is messed up (installing a motor at a gm dlr)so looking for a prety smooth ride daily driver. I'm looking for recommendations on the following:
1) SHOCKS:rancho 9000's(this way i can adjust them) or is there any other ones that will give me a smooth ride on pavement?
2) hyd CAMSHAFT( lookig for a slight/med rough idle, daily driver, very seldom off road for now, will install a 650 carb and a Performer intake with duals, and possibly headers then 1.6 roller rockers.thinking the comp cams xtreme 254/262 210/218 .44/.467 111' 1,000-5,200rpms or crane power max 266/272 210/216 440/454 114' or is there any other ideal cams avail?
3) 2" body/LIFT KIT? brand, reliable w/instalation ease.
4) TIRES? BF Goodrich A/T's or other,
probably in the 31"-32" range
5) and who all sells parts for a 86 K5?

i will also be adding the frame support by the P/S gear box very soon.
thanks

i didn't know you could put the words smooth ride and k5 in a sentence together. my 74 had a 6" lift and i got so tired of the ride that i removed some of the leafs. short wheel base trucks ride like jeeps in my opinion. if you thin down the leaf pack and go with the 9000s you should do fine. add air bags if youre going to tow with it.

I wouldn't go with a body lift. Those old balzers have suspension lifts available for them that are cheap and easy to install. There are lots of different brands that make lifts for blazers and plenty of different heights too.
