I kinda new to the whole engine rebuilding thing so I hope you guys can help me out I have found a short block 360 engine. the guys says that it ran good when he pulled it but it has a bad rod bearing in the #1 cylindar but the crank and rod are still good. im only going to tear it apart and rebuild it if it relly needs it or not I want to go crazy with it. what would be a good price to offer him for the engine its out of a 84 w250.

A bad rod bearing is a sign of more problems. i would do a complete rebuild of the motor. has he taken the motor apart? if not, how does he know that the parts, especially the crank, are still good. call up a local machine shop and see what they would charge to rebuild it, then make your offer from there.
