What're the primary differences between a 1500 1/2 ton and a 1500HD 1/2 ton?

I know the 1500HD has the same front suspension as the 2500/3500HD's, not sure on the rest.
i believe the 1500hd was only available in crew cab & 6.5' bed w/ the 6.0L.
the 1500hd is the same chasis as the 2500 (non hd). they are both a 3/4 ton chasis, they have a shorter frame than the 2500hd (cant fit the allison in them). for that reason, you can only get the 6.0L engine in them, iirc. i believe they have the 10.5" rear axle. i'll bet that the 1500HD has softer springs thus a lower gvwr than the 2500.

so basically, i believe it was GM's way of making a full-crew cab half ton without shrinking the bed down like what ford did in the beginning.

But can't you now get a standard 1500, non-HD with full four doors?
yes, but that's a regular old half ton chasis with a shorter bed. its new.... the 1500hd has been around for a few years.
Pretty sure the 1500HD was 8-lug, and had the quadrasteer as an option too. :bigthumb:
