well i got the truck in april of 06 and decided its time for a buid. im still in high school so all the progress depends on my grades :wall: :wall:

    My Plans:

    1. 6-8'' lift (no BL!)

    2. Redo all the body work and get rid of all the rust

    3. Build new front and rear bumpers

    4. Bed liner interior and exteror

    5. Fix the little stuff that shows up as progress goes :rotfl: :rotfl:

heres what i started with, the day after i got it:

well next came the body work which i figured id just put some body filler over some of it and call it good but i got a little more into it, and learned as i went :poke: haha not the best way to go

    heres some of the rust:

i got some doors from a friend for free and started repairing the rust on the corners and along the bottom

this is how i got one. it had alot of bondo and rivets in a patch as big as the body filler patch

took a while to sand down and i tried using a heat gun but later remembered warping :wall: :wall: so i just patched the end corners and chopped the patch of rivets out

didnt think it was to bad for the first time :D: :D:

i decided to just scrap that door and just use the ones that came on it ( alot less repair)

Started sanding and getting ready for paint. took the bed over to storage and started stripping everything down ( my goal is for as little chrome as possible)

    Stripping and sanding it down:

Passenger side cab corner lots of cutting :hack: :hack: :hack:

got it welded in and filled, ready for paint

i got it all sanded and prepped it for paint and decided to set up a "

paint booth" in my shop ( my mom wasnt to happy) :rotfl: :rotfl:

i dont think my set up was the best. when i got done painting the panels seemed like sand paper themselves :wall: :wall: haha i dont think there was enough ventilation or something but it worked out better than i was thinking :bigthumb:

got the fenders and hood on:

since the primer didnt turn out so hot i decided id like to try the bed liner thing so i the gallon kit for Herculiner. i read alot about doing the liner and the quality of your product will all depend on your prep so i sanded the sh*t out of it. i was really surprised how well the floor looked when i took the carpet out. the bottom layer was a little wet so its proubly best that i got it out before it all went to hell. then i masked off everything and started.

    hers how it looks:

after (still have to do the details on the dash)

the bed-liner came the other day and started the prep for the rest of the truck. i got it from nonslipcoating.com and personally i would never order a single thing from them again. they said it would be here in 6-7 business days and i wanted for about 2 weeks, ( i can understand some error) but i called them and got this asian guy (not to be raciest or nothin) but i couldn't understand a damn thing he said! and he kept calling me at school and stuff so i asked to talk to his manager and he straightened everything out and i ended up getting 3 gallons for free. so it all worked out

enough complaining heres how my paint went:

started sanding it all down for the prep with 36 grit and had to wipe everything down with acetone and started rolling. it turned out better than i had thought it would with the roller and its easy to touch up once you have a coat or two on you can just paint it on with a brush and you cant even tell

marked off the line between the blue and black

still has the tape and needs some touch ups

and thats how it is now im still trying to figure out what to do with the bed and lift. im in the process of making my own shackles but i still need to get some metal proubly tomrow.

    any body have any ideas??

i think you did a great job cosmeticly (sp) with the body and the 1 cab corner but it looked from the picture that you replaced the rotted outer section in the other cab corner but the entire inside was rotting away. ofcourse you cant know exactly what you replaced from looking at pictures. i just hope that in your quest to get her painted you didnt cut corners and not remove all the rust. i have seen it happen with the herc liner... you will see little bubbles in it, thats the rust spreading all over again. good luck with it, you could have done just the blue on the outside and will have looked just as good if not better IMO. nice work though!!
