    2000 5.3

    BASE ENGINE......5.3-liter V-8

    EST. HP......285 @ 5,000 rpm

    EST. TORQUE......325 lb.-ft. @ 4,000 rpm

    city/highway 16/20 mpg

    1998 5.7

    Horsepower @ rpm 255 @ 4600

    Torque, lb.-ft. @ rpm 330 @ 2800

    city/highway 14/19

Not only does his engine produce better numbers but he gets better mileage as well. My dad has two 5.3's. One in a Yukon and the other in his Silverado. I personally prefer that motor over the 5.7 and am continually jabbed that he has to wait for me and my less than stellar 360 Magnum at the top of each hill when we tow.

    Its 325 CID

The 5.3 is a great motor, and a huge improvement over the older 5.7.

Basically it is a destroked LS1 (vette/camaro) motor and its an Iron block. Its a nice and powerful motor
