why is it so hard to explain?
the difference between back pressure and scavenging to people? id have better odds at getting a wall to understand the difference than some people now days.... for the life of me i cant figure out how to explain to this kid why back pressure is not desirable but good scavenging is when it comes to exhaust....
use a straw analogy. if you blow through a straw and restrict one end, its harder to blow through, but if you put a vacuum on that same end, it sure is easier to blow through

RE: why is it so hard to explain?
THIS KID SEEMS TO THINK YOU HAVE TO HAVE BACK PRESSURE IN ORDER TO HAVE A SCAVENGING EFFECT BECAUSE HIS UNCLE WHO WORKS AT A MUFFLER SHOP SAYS SO...
he also really believes that turbos like to have back pressure... meaning you are wasting your time adding a turbo if you dont have large amounts of back pressure to spin the turbo.
I'd just quit trying to explain the concept. Some folks just know what they're talking about and you can't tell them differently. You can't convince a guy that believes the sky is purple that it really is blue.
i would just screw with the kid, go along with his dumb [censored] ideology then add upon it. If he is too stubborn to learn and try to open his mind up to new ideas, then i hope he wastes time and money in a failed project. only then will he learn.
