tonight i threw a code and went to have it checked. the first place was not able to read it and at the second place it came up as 1281. there i was told that it was a manufactures code and i was wandering it any one could tell me what it is. 1281 Crazy

That manufacturers code should be P1281-Engine is cold too long. Hope this helps.

If the code is engine too cold... I'd check two things...

I'd check the coolant temp with a electronic themometer. It should be 190-210 depending on which stat you're running. If it's lower than 180, I'd suspect a faulty T-stat.

I'd look at the temp sending unit. It could be faulty and sending the wrong signal.

I ran this number for a 2001 Ram 5.2L 49 state emissions and my software said it was Manufacturer control fuel air metering. Could someone else check this cause I would like to know if my lookup software is wrong. Thx.

mine is a 2001.

to day i replaced the thermostat and the old one was broken (the spring was barely hanging on). i cleared the code and drove home 30 miles so far no more check engine light. thanks a bunch guys. i appreciate all the help.
