pinion nut is 210ft/lbs.

preload is 15-35 in./lbs. for new bearings

The torque on a crush sleeve is different than a shim type. The 9.25 uses a crush sleeve. Torque the crush sleeve to get 18-20 inch pounds of preload on the pinion.

FYI: It's ALOT more than 210 ft. lbs.

At 250 ft. lbs. the slack wasn't even pulled out of the bearings. I had to keep an impact wrench on it for a while until the sleeve crushed.

I only wasted 1 crush sleeve... Silly

Seriously, I couldn't get the sleeve to give any other way....On my second attempt I had the routine dialed and got the preload right on... Thumbs Up!

Thanks again for your help.

I was glad to see that my D60's that had crush sleeves originally now use shims (aftermarket gears)....I hate crush sleeves.

What's up Bill?

I actually read somewhere that someone made a spacer to eliminate the crush sleeve in the 9.25 but I couldn't find it anywhere...
