i currently have a 2001 2500 ram 4x4 regular cab long bed and ive been thinking about getting a extended cab short bed, is it possible to just swap an extended cab and short bed onto my regular cab frame? i really dont want to get rid of my truck because i just paid it off so any info would be great.
sounds like a lot of work when you could prolly trade it in for what you want. it may cost a little more to trade it in and get another one. but you are planning on spending it anyway buying another cab and bed.

correct me if im wrong please but i thought that i read some where on here that body mounts dont match up along with alot of other things so sounds like alot of fabrication and just not really worth it.
the other truck is 2wd and i like having the 4x4 option i was just pondering if the cab and bed would bolt up. i dont know i may just find another truck .
Also curious if anyone has done this swap, looking at the frames of both it doesn't look as easy as cutting the body mounts off and moving them/fabbing up new one's.
No.
Won't work.
Overall length is pretty close but that's about it.
Look underneath at where the frame curves up from the cab to the box --- different frame geometry , nothing will line up.
If all else fails, but you still want to know if itll work. Just getcha measuring tape and get your dimensions of each mounting spot. I would do that anyway to save time if something is wrong with the mounts.
