certain places 14 bolts are pretty cheap, and way stronger than 12 or 10 bolts. 10 bolt rear took a {expletive} in my suburban on 35s on a open diff with stock gears/motor/tranny. ripped 3 teeth off the pinion gear
yea, sometime last year maybe two years ago the pinion nut backed off and my gears got ate to {expletive} in the back and this last time that i have had trouble with it the spidergears and chiped up. When i regeared the rear from the first situation i never got around to regearing the front so ive had a 4.56 geared "2wd" 4x4 for probably 2 years. Now that im ready to do everything. I want to do good streetabe upgrades. So I'm either...........
A)regearing my front and putting a quiklok up front with a HD lsd in the back running both 10 bolts
B) regearing the front with the 4.56 outta the rear 10 bolt and adding a quiklok up front and throwing a 12 bolt in the back with a HD lsd
C)swapping to 8lugs where i would get a 14 bolt FF and outers for my 10bolt til i found a dana 60 where I would also have to get rid of my beautiful 15" 6 lug wheels
I got a 14 bolt rear, and a 10 bolt 8 lug, both redone with 4.10s for 500 bucks. Im in highschool, and it was deffidently cheaper than building up an axle. I also run 38s, no problems yet.
