I have not been deployed to as many places as some on this board, but I have been to a few.
Incirlik Turkey, 4 months '98-'99
Southern Scotland, 1 month summer 2000
Frankfurt Germany for a few days in 1998
Strange and confusing route to Iraq in the spring if 2007. Flew from Sacramento, Ca to Baltimore, from Baltimore to Turkey, from Turkey to Kyrgyzstan where I got stuck looking for a plane ride for 4 days. Finally got a ride to Bagram AB, Afghanistan where I got stuck for a few days (Boy was that the wild west). Then I got a ride on the slowest C-130 the Air Force owns to Al-Udid AB in Qatar. Stayed the night there and finally got space blocked on a C-130 (second slowest in the fleet) going to Kurkuik, Iraq witch was my duty station.
As for any advice, Baby wipes are a must. Mountain unit+Afghanistan= lots of time in the field, so baby wipes are a must. Carry hand sanitizer with you everywhere.
Well Baby wipes and hand sanitizer, have to agree. We pack it with us when we go to the field even for training. Nothing more uncomfortable then days in the field with out a shower, and havein to poo. baby wipes can help with that, and yea.
From what I understand the majority of our work is gonna be done from HMMWVs, however still going to be lots of foot patrols.
