Knew it was going to happen sooner than later running Smarty TNT on SW 9 with stock trans. Going to work I pulled away from a stop sign and I felt the trans bind up and make a loud pop. Felt like I was applying the brakes when I wasnt. Once the truck stopped, it starting going in reverse. Somehow the trans was trying to apply both forward and reverse gears at the same time. Cant wait to tear into trans and see what died. Going with billet flex plate, input, output, intermedate shaft, and a constant pressure VB. Pics of build to come later.

RE: Trans went BOOM
so wait.... your truck was in drive, went boom, slowed down and started going backwards? I bet you got some looks from other drivers! lol! That sux man! Shoulda got the G56! So far its been great, but mines stock. I have slipped the clutch already... so thats def. gotta go. I would love to have a built auto in my truck, but could never afford the hefty tag and loss of warranty!

Yep, luckily it was at 5am when it happened. I can start it and move it a block, then it binds up and does it again. Some debry had to get into the VB to cause that kind of issue.
The same thing happend to a friend of mine's 94 chevy 1500. When I asked the mechanics at the shop I worked at they said that the low/reverse band welded itself to the drum.

I am just going to do a billet front input shaft, from IE (Opies).
I talked with several trans builders about the shafts. Majority said the a billet input is a must and the intermediate and output shafts can be left stock, unless I would be doing high psi boost launches or sled pulling when putting out more than 600+ HP

yeah thats what I've heard also. Said the intermidiate shaft is good to 750. I just got it all, knowing I cant leave it alone. LOL I like the VB so I can flip a switch and it will lock the converter 2nd on up.
