Street Legal ATV?
Is there any way to make an ATV street legal in SC? I have a 2008 YFZ-450SE and it would be great to ride it around town instead of getting 9mpg in my Ram 1500. I know it has an OFFROAD title, but is there any way to get the title changed?

RE: Street Legal ATV?
Now I don't know how different SC is, but I tried this in MI with my KTM450XC (atv) and it was a struggle getting them to consider it and since its a sport quad, does not help, at all. The DMV really frowns upon the straight axle, they feel it will flip too easily compared to a independent rear. Dunno

Of course you'll need the mirrors turn signals, etc, and DOT tires, but that isn't the real issue, just a matter of money. They were also worried about noise, which is rediculous because I have the stock exhaust (unmodified) on it...it became clear it was going to be a constant struggle so I ended up bagging the idea.

Good luck!
Thumbs Up!

In SC a motorcycle isnt required to have mirrors or turn signals ironically. A few of my friends have never been stopped for not having them. I have the stock exhaust on it for now. They just dont get if people have a sport quad, then most likely they kknow how to ride it without flipping it...i hate people with no common sense...and DOT tires are easy to get. A lot of my friends have cars that they have performance exhaust, straight piped and open headers and havent had problems. hell my truck is louder than my atv. Ill have to take some pictures next time i go home from college.
