Well I had a wheel bearing come loose on My Dana 60 Sat. So I popped it all apart. Put the the hubs back in the right way or so I thought. Both hubs worked fine before, but only one works correctly now.
So here enlies my prob, now the dial wont line up with the Lock/Free wheeling modes on the Cap. Also the hub wants to try and Lock itself while driving while in Free Mode. I didnt have much time to diagnose the prob, so i just locked them both up and drove it.
So is there a specific way to install the spicers?
what kind of locking hub is it, i just put a set of warm premiums on my truck so i could help tell you how they go together if that the kind of hub you have got
and how the hell did your hub get loose did you have both spindle nuts tight and the safety washer between them ?
I have had the odd wheel bearing come loose here and there. How come I dont know. I havent had this front end apart either yet, nor did I check it when i swapped it on.
And Factory Spicer Hubs.

you have a picture of the lockout? ford is the only one that i am aware of to use spicer lockouts on the d60, chevy used them on the big hub d44 and early d44's but had warn lockouts on the d60 from 77-91
pull the screws off and remove the lockout then turn the dial to the lock position and re-install

Best pic I got. They sure dont look like warn's to me.
I guess Ill have to try and do the cap thing again. I tried it a few times to no avail
pretty sure chev 60's came with spicers.
heres a half ton spicer:
that is a spicer lockout and the first one i have ever seen on a chevy 60, that not a ford one as the dial would be red, i run ford lockouts on chevy hubs on a ford d60.
older chevy half tons and big hub 44's all had spicer lockouts, tough lockouts on a d60, they just dont like to unlock
I haven't done one of these in awhile.. BUT if you put them back together wrong that will happen.
There is a pin on one of the rings and it needs to be in the right position when you put it back together or it will be locked all the time..
Then when you put the outer dial on you need to make sure it lines up with what poistion you put the inside rings together.
i.e. if the inside is locked then you need to install the outside dial in the locked position,... or if the inside is free..then you need to install the outside dial in the free position.

Took it back apart, tried putting the hub back in in LOCK position. Didnt work so I pulled the rest of the hub out, cleaned them and put um back in. Works like A charm now. Who ever re packed the wheel bearings figured they should pack the hub and dial full of grease too.
