Rear axle in a 1993 3500 Dodge cargo van

what axle would be in it?
i could see any visible numbers that i could readily see. but the axle does have the thing on top for a tone ring.

the GVWR on the door placard was 6084 in the rear.
it was a full floater, just wondering if its a 60, 70, or 80?

the tape measure was one of the things i forgot to throw in my toolbox before i went to the junkyard, sooo...
does anyone know if a van axle is the same width as the truck?

BTW this junkyard has about 8-10 of these vans, they were fleet vans for a concrete company, and i can get them for $65.

dana 60.... small possibility of it being a dana 70 but vans rarely got more than a dana 60 very rarely.

and no its not the same width as the trucks....

dont rightly remeber.... i know the spring perches are way off from the truck axles of the same era, and the WM to WM is wider.

dodge vans never got the attention trucks did, some of the 3/4 ton vans were using 8.25 rear axles, and its not uncommon for the 1 tons to use 9.25's

Be careful my dad has a 350 dodge work van, but its only a 8 lug 9 1/4. Lots of vans came with the 9.25 all the way up to the 350's. One way to make sure it isnt is to make sure the rear has an actual hub part that sticks out from the middle of the wheel. If there is no hub sticking out of the wheel, its not a dana.

and about 10 more..

Pretty sure he's not talking about an 8 or 9, as he did say it was a full floater, which uhh, neither of those are.

I would believe it's a D60 unless it's some special of that style van. From Ford vans (not sure about Dodge stuff) I believe that the van axles are generally slightly less in the width department, but a lot of the time the way the leaves are outside of the frame they would have a little wider of a stance when just comparing where the leaves are...

Yeah, I am with Salvage, vans tend to run a wider WMS. Then again, the Rams have a wide WMS averaging over 70"....so it might not be that far off from what you have stock.

It is going to be a Dana 60 like mentioned. I only know of Ford Vans getting Dana 70s with like Diesels and such. Otherwise, vans pretty much got Dana 60s or semifloating 9.25s.

Dodge used either the 9.25 or Dana 60 in the rear. I parted out a fullsize 1 ton van and it had a FF 60 in it

either way is probaly worth picking up (tuesdays i can get the axle for $50) as an upgrade from the 9 1/4, throw some 4.88's or 5.13's in it and it would be good for 38's or 40's.

now i just need to find a dana 60 front axle in my PnP trips.
