Please Help!!!!
I was out wheelin all weekend then come Sunday after washing the truck and driving to the house to shower and change I left to go eat dinner and before I could even get off base I heard two loud popping noises and felt a bit of a jerk so I pulled off the road then as a got stopped I put the truck in park and went to get out letting off the brake and the truck started rolling. I checked the u-joints they were intact so I climbed back in and shifted through the gears and it didnt feel like there was anything binding but when I would go into reverse or drive it would make a clicking noise and jerk a little bit. I haven’t had very much experience on transmissions so if anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated. Obama doesn’t pay me enough to take it to a shop

on 3-10-10 there was a post on a "clicking noise" . sheriff420 posted a video of what a ujoint should NOT sound like, there is a link there. it is in dodge 4x4 forum, 1 page back from this the sound can seam like a hammer or a clunk. then listen to it , I have 4 jack stands, put the whole truck up and then you can crawl and hunt andfind the noise.

I would advise in going to another place other than AAMCO, here in Miami there known to waaaaaaay over charge and sneak stuff in to get more $$ out of you.
Good luck and hope all comes out well

Jack up the rear end and have someone spin the tires while you lay under the rear of the truck to listen to the differential to see if it is making any noises that could confirm busted gears. If it is then pull the differential cover and see what you're working with.
Don't forget to block the front wheels and put jack stands under it before you hop under there. A Jack losing pressure isn't common, but it can happen.
Also while the rear tires are off the ground, grab the drive shaft and spin it while paying attention to the slip yoke that goes into the transmission. You might have stripped the splines on it, or the problem could be inside the transfer case.

ok I checked it some more this morning after work and the transfer case was all the way I 2wd and I climbed under and had someone shift from drive to reverse while shifting to d, the drive shaft would rotate a few times around then just lock up, and the same when going to reverse. So I tried it in 4wd and I could drive about a foot forward before everything locked up and stopped then could back up to where I started. Also while in neutral the truck rolls freely on the ground
could this possibly be my diff????
