Optima batteries: favorite flavor?

Hey, my stock battery is about to bite the dust Very Happy ROTFL so I now have an excuse to get that Optima battery I have been wanting to buy. My question is this, which color do you guys prefer? I do not have a winch, but have a high power stereo and will be running a couple pair of high wattage lights as soon as my light bar comes in. I have always gotten the yellow top before but I think it's the red top that has the best cold cranking power. Isn't it yellow top for stereo and lights and red top for winches and welders or does it even really matter? Just looking to see which one is the most popular before I order my yellow one.

Generally speaking, the yellow top costs a little more. Any reason why?

I bought two blue top marine ones off Ebay for 90 bucks each a month or two ago. I'll probably buy my yellow (or red, maybe) off this guy too. He sells super cheap and ships quickly.

The blues probably won't make a good starting battery. They are a deep-cycle only type battery. The yellows are a mix between deep cycle and starting. They can take a big discharge without being damaged and will work for starting. It is my understanding that the yellows do take longer to charge. I have had a red top in my truck for about 4 years. It starts the same in freezing weather or hot weather. I would never buy a conventional battery.

It's not green in there anymore... it's black. And my engine has been wanting to die at an idle for a long time. Well we diagnosed it as several different things but my friend had the same thing happen to his a while back and it turned out it was the battery.

Don't try to tell me it's not the battery, okay? I NEED THIS. Silly ROTFL

I just had to replace my battery this week, it was throwing codes on and off for about a few weeks and then just up and died. At least that's what I think was throwing codes. Haven't had one sionce I replaced the battery.

Oh yeah, I got the yellow to power my lights and my future winch, got a good deal at $129.00 with my company discount....So far it has been great.. Thumbs Up!
