Okay, there has been a lot of debate here as to which one is the best for what purpose. My truck has been in the shop sooo long that the battery is dead, and I am afraid that it will not come back to life. If that is the case then I will be getting one of these three. I will eventually run a dual battery setup, but not for a long while. I have a tone of offroad lights that I will be running, I have 4 now, and 6 more to come (rock lights and back up lights). So what battery would work the best? I am leaning towards a blue top marine, but I also want a battery that is going to deliver effortless starting, and the red top offers the most cold cranking amps. So what is a Ram owner to do?

i don't know too much about these batteries but the folks that make them recommend the yellow top for vehicles with lots of accessories.
the web page states “vehicles with computers, extra radios, electronic components, lights, winches, etc. will create excessive amperage drain that can damage a starting battery" and they recommend the OPTIMA Yellow Top to provide fast recharging and longer life due to its' ability to cycle over 300 times.”

the red top is basically a regular battery that can be mounted any way you want it. it also has a high amp rating, but you can get that from any high dollar battery.
the yellow top is a commbination of a starting battery and a deep cycle. it also can be mounted any way you want. this is what i would suggest for a car.
the blue top is for marine applications. this may be good for a second battery in a dual setup, as it is more a deep cycle than a starting battery. since a second battery would only start the truck if the other one is dead, i think it would work pretty good.
i found a place that i can get a pretty good price for these, pm if you are interested.
2 days ago i just bought a red top optima, i wanted something with the highest cold crankin amps this has 800 as compared to the 600 that was from the factory, it was pretty expensive at $119 but has good warranty
i have a stinger spv44 in my car for the stereo. i have run that battery for 6 days with no alternator charge, and then it finally died. voltage at it statically is 13.5 volts. i paid $125 for it, and i could probably get another for that cost, plus shipping. its a small battery, comes w/ a metal sleeve/case, bronze terminals, and is deep cell/sealed to be mounted in any position.
5 second Cranking Amps: 660 Amps
Typical Cycle Life: 350 cycles @ 100% depth of discharge (100% depth of discharge is down to 10.5 volts. No lower!)
Dimensions: 7-3/4" Wide X 6-1/2" Deep X 6-3/4" High
Weight: 36.52
Internal Resistance: <5 mOhms
get the red unless u run everything with your truck off then go yellow its designed for low draw usage, like running a winch, stereo equipment etc... like 300 times at like 20% or something without going bad not sure about the blue top though
question.....will the alternator recharge the batteries faster than you can draw the power from them? I know if you ever got a winch you would go Milemarker, because i converted you so you dont have to worry about a constant 400 amp drain i think any 2 of those batteries will do the trick for lights and accessories.
I ran a yellow in my 1500 just cause of all my stereo stuff. When I replace the batteries in my 2500 I plan to get a pair of yellows for it as well. They are not cheap bu t they seem to get the job done.
