Symptoms were: oil consumption (bout a quart every 1000 miles), random misfire, fouled up plugs in cylinders #2 and #4, low compression in #2 and #4 135 p.s.i. vs the others that were about 155.
Alright, so I have tirelessly searched the web. I just got my plenum gasket and intake manifold gaskets done (vacuum test failed...strange thing is there was no evidence of oil in the plenum)...I know I may have a slight wear issue, however don't want to spent the $$$ yet to replace heads. Now I still get random misfires...but less often. I have changed the spark plugs and run some slick 50 injector cleaner through this seemed to make the misfire worse. The biggest mystery is that no engine light comes on and the new plugs seem to be pretty clean. Should I get the distributor cap and rotor kit first then try the spark plug wires, or the other way around. Any other ideas on what might cause this random misfire? Would a "sinking valve seat" lead to random misfires?
