The wife's 2006 Jeep Commander 4x4 just turned 45,000 miles. We are out of warranty and it has its share of dings and dents. We were never pleased with the power or handling on the Commander and really missed our 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
SO, so we went looking at new SUVs over the weekend.
Well, we just picked up a new (yes new) 2008 Dodge Durango Limited 4x4, with the Hemi. We got a good trade in amount on the Jeep and the dealership acted like they thought the 65TH Anniversary Package was something special....
We owned a 2000 Durango 4x4 before with the 4.7L and really missed the vehicle. This new Durango has so many options, this vehicle is loaded out. It stickered for $41,800 and we got it for $23K.
There are some killer deals out there on new leftovers if you can find them.
My buddy said his step dad just bought a new leftover '08 GMC Sierra extended cab w/ the Z-71 package that has the VortecMax 6.0L and every option except leather for $26K out the door. He said the sticker was $41K. The dealer said that was the largest rebate they ever gave on a new vehicle and took his picture and put a flyer up in the dealership about it.
I decided to hold off on a new truck for right now, but when I was looking a couple months ago I found a new leftover '08 GMC Sierra Denali AWD crew cab that had absolutely everything on it for $30,500.
That truck stickered for $45K! If/when those deals come around again later this year or early next, I'll probably pull the trigger and pick one up.

What motor did you have in the commander? The wife is starting to like them, but I think they are too big and boxy - imagine that they don't get very great mpg.
