BLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!

Dear BRC Action Alert Subscriber,

Lower Trinity & Mad River Motorized Travel Management DEIS=

The Six Rivers National Forest, located in northwestern California, an=
nounced the release of their Motorized Travel Management Draft Environmen=
tal Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Lower Trinity and Mad River Ranger Di=
stricts. The Forest Service (FS) is asking for your input during a 45-day=
public review and comment period, which will end on July 20, 2009.

The DEIS displays an analysis of four alternatives, each of which woul=
d designate a distinct transportation system. The DEIS maps show the rout=
es proposed for addition as motorized trails and changes to existing syst=
em roads and motorized trails proposed under each alternative.

The DEIS and maps will be available for viewing at the Forest Service =
offices in Willow Creek, Mad River and Eureka, and at the Humboldt State =
University and Humboldt County Libraries. The DEIS and maps are also avai=
lable on the Forest's website at <a href=3D"http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sixri=
vers/projects/ohv/#project">http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sixrivers/projects/oh=
v/#project.

A Final Environmental Impact Statement and decision by Forest Supervis=
or Tyrone Kelley are expected this fall, with a Motor Vehicle Use Map sch=
eduled for release by the end of 2009.

Public Comments are Invited on the DEIS. Comments should be as specifi=
c as possible. It is also helpful if comments refer to specific pages or =
chapters of the DEIS. Before commenting, the public is urged to review th=
e DEIS, including appendices and associated maps, and learn more about th=
e current status of the project and the comment process at one of the pub=
lic workshops.
