How to change front bearing hub assembly on 02 Dodge 1500 4x4 with 5.9 engine.
Has anybody here ever changed the front bearing hub assembly on a 2002 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a 360 engine? It is a 1500 series.

Was it very difficult?

they are all pretty much the same, just a matter of removing the brakes and the shaft nut and then the 3 or 4 bolts holding the bearing assembly in the knuckle which can stick a little bit but a big persuader hammer can help with that.

RE: How to change front bearing hub assembly on 02 Dodge 1500 4x4 with 5.9 engine.
REMOVAL - 4X4
Raise and support the vehicle.
Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
Remove the brake caliper and rotor (Refer to 5 - BRAKES/HYDRAULIC/MECHANICAL/ROTORS - REMOVAL).
Remove the ABS wheel speed sensor if equipped, (Refer to 5 - BRAKES/ELECTRICAL/FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR - REMOVAL).
Remove the halfshaft nut.
NOTE: Do not strike the knuckle with a hammer to remove the tie rod end or the ball joint. Damage to the steering knuckle will occur.

Remove the tie rod end nut and separate the tie rod from the knuckle using special tool 8677.
Remove the upper ball joint nut and separate the upper ball joint from the knuckle using special tool 8677.
Pull down on the steering knuckle to separate the halfshaft from the hub/bearing.
Remove the three hub/bearing mounting bolts from the steering knuckle (HALFSHAFT / HUB/BEARING).
Slide the hub/bearing out of the steering knuckle (HALFSHAFT / HUB/BEARING).
Remove the brake dust shield.

the tech section lists replacement for a dana 44 axle but not for the 8.25 that he has in his 02 DR 1500 4X4

the post I made above are the exact steps as noted from the Chrysler Tech section on hub / bearing replacement for an 02 1500 4x4 Corporate 8.25 axle
I've never replaced one myself on the 8.25 axle (i've done a few on my d44). The d44 style seems easier.

why would you need to remove the knuckle from the ball joint or remove the tre?

the ones i have done never needed anything like that, it was just a matter of removing brakes and remove the hub retaining bolts/nut and out it comes.
