Front bumper for 2000 Ram
Gentlemen, I’m considering a full front bumper replacement. I’d like one with 2” receiver and/or winch capability. Since I'm not in a position to fab my own (or spring for a Buck Stop), I’m looking for input on Boss Hog bumper replacements. (Are they the same as Trail Boss?) They’re similar to the Ranch Hand Legend series, but seem to offer a better approach angle. I have no first-hand experience with either, and didn’t bump into anything using the search function. So, I would appreciate your input. Comments on strength, durability, looks, etc. would be appreciated. This would be for a 2000 Dodge 2500 4x4. Kind of an aside – what’s your take on using the 2” receiver on a front bumper for a removable winch? How does that compare to a mounted winch?

Don't look to bad, in terms of the approach angle, I wouldn't be too concerned. The receiver winches are ok, they just need to be properly braced for the weight and angle, also keep in mind that alot of the receivers are mounted low which can make it more awkward to winch with. The removeable winches are easier to steal

Thanks. These actually seem to provide quite a bit better approach angle than the similar Ranch Hand. I'm not sure where the 2" receiver would be mounted in one. If in the top pipe, that wouldn't be too bad. I'm not overly concerned about theft, as the winch (when obtained) would be stored in a locked tool box or camper shell when not in use.

I have a friend who bought his front and rear replacements from this guy. Bumpers look good and hold up real well. Price is alot better than paying full price of a ranch hand

Thanks Mark. The price seems right, and freight isn't even all that bad. There's an outfit that carries Ranch Hands about an hour from me. I'll stop in and check their prices and how they compare to these Boss Hogs with freight. I'll make the decision with that info.
I incorporated a front hitch to use a removeable winch and have had great success with mine, however the one pictured in that ad looks awfully high. When you use a removeable winch you want it to be as close to the center of your framerails as possible because of how far the winch extends from the actual mounting surface.
I'd take a close look at how they have the receiver mounted before purchasing it, remember your going to be using it on a f/s truck and all the weight that's associated with it... JMHO

I have dealt with Hendry's before. They are great to work with, have the best prices I could find (and I shopped around for months), and ship quickly with tracking numbers. The bumpers, products, and customer service has been good for me.
I would buy from them again anytime. I always dealt with Ron.
