So, I'm new to this site, and I figured that I might as well start off with my biggest question regarding my truck. I've got a '76 FJ40 and have wanted to lift it for a while, and recently I have decided to do an SOA. But, if you know about these, you know that the front diff is sort of a problem when it comes to SOA. If anybody could help me out, I would really appreciate it. I am going to order some Alcan springs. Soft with 1-1/2" lift. With those and the SOA, I figure that I could at least fit some 37's. Thanks for your input.
Here's another question, if you guys have the chance. I am pretty sure that I want to run a snorkel, but I don't want to buy one. I am thinking of taking off all of the air filter and that stuff up on the top of the engine, and running some sort of tube directly to the carb, and have a filter in there somewhere. My friends and I have already sort of figured out where the other tubes are going to go (air pump, etc.) but I haven't really been able to find a fitting that will just clamp on to the carb. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.
SOA 40's are getting really popular because they are so capable offroad. Ive spent countless hours reading into it for my 60, and its definitly a tedious process. As far as the front axle goes, you should invest in some longfields. http://www.toyotasuperaxles.com And you'll also need to cut-and-turn your front axle, either through cruiser outfitters, or profits cruisers. Feel free to ask more questions if you decide to tackle this SOA.
