RE: Explain this to me - Hybrid Cars
I don't know which Prius owners you're watching, but all of the ones in OK seem to like to go just under the speed limit. What's worse is they stare at that damn MPG gauge not looking where they are going trying to maximize it based on speed! It's worse than texting and driving in my opinion. Not to mention they have the AC blasting which destroys the mileage...just more proof that the Cali Eco Movement is based on what is popular, not what works! Clean diesel is the way to go!!!!

RE: Explain this to me - Hybrid Cars
I agree with both of you. I either see them driving like Mario Andretti, or cruising at 62.3345982 mph in the fast lane because that's where the mileage maxes out. Damn it, go 65 on the interstate, go 70+ when in the fast lane or move over. And in town, quit racing the econo ricer. Where is the normalcy?
yup i always see those prius and prius type vehicles flying down the highway and zipping in and out of lanes, ruining all that great fuel economy they payed oh so much for. it goes to show, people who drive those things drive them because of the "save the planet and be green" trend, not because they truly think that they are saving the planet. thank you, but i think ill stick to my fuel efficent cummins 5.9.

Or maybe because they live in a large populated area, live on their own, don't have to move a lot of people, and need a car to get them from point A to point B, get better full economy then most cars of that size and have enough room to fit groceries in the trunk.
Thats like saying anyone who drives a big lifted truck is a hillbilly, likes to go mudding, leaves his christmas lights on his house all year round and thinks the south will raise again.
Anyone and everyone drives every type of car... I've seen people that think their trucks are formula 1 dragsters and other people that drive their corvettes slower than I ride a bicycle.

I hear you Mike, but the Redneck next door never complains about my Xmas lights or big truck. I have to agree that the "majority" of Prius owners, or anyone who frankly advertises that they drive a "hybrid", will complain about your gas guzzling truck even if you HAVE to drive because it's required for your job. Sorry, I'm all for protecting the environment, but have of these hair-brained eco ideas haven't even been proven!
I still find it ironic that the hybrid has an extremely large battery, with a short life span, that is very difficult or near impossible to recycle, and is built in China or Taiwan where they take little effort to protect the environment.....good job you've saved the planet!

So do you guys have some sort of personal hatred against hybrids and that they use less gas or do you just not like the the prius? Because GM and ford both make SUVs that a hybrids... And I'm yet to have ever met anyone that drives one that is thinks "I'm saving the turtles by driving a hybrid" I think thats an over advertised theme.
Correction... the only hybrid that I have ever seen that was purchased for the whole "going green" is the one thats in our company fleet because in order to have a higher LEED certification of our company/building you have to have X% of your fleet alternative fuel/hybrids.... for us it worked out to be one car.... I'm pretty sure its more so because "going green" is cool now-a-days and the company looks better if they are up to it... because my boss is by no means a hippy of any sort haha.
I do agree w/ bio/clean diesel and ethonal for gas.... renewable energy and it puts farmers to work.... my neighbor makes biodiesel for his 70s mercedes diesel and his Ford F250 7.3 nonturbo. They run better/cleaner than on real diesel.
MIke.
