i voluntered to replace the ball joints on my bosses' Durango.
what is the easiest way to do this? first glance looks like i have to remove the caliper, wheel bearing, and half shaft.
is it possible to unbolt the half shaft from the diff. and pop the spindle form the ball joints and then pull them?
does anyone know off hand what size the half shaft nut is? im guessing maybe 32mm.
bad thing as well, is it seems like it needs TREs as well.
is it the upper or lower? If its the upper simple.....remove tire and wheel, remove caliper and rotor take a chisel and pop the 3 rivits off, bolt new upper ball joints in place....if I remember the torque spec is like 55 ft lbs or somthin.
I'm a$$uming it's the 4WD model but here it goes:
1. Remove the tire, caliper, rotor, and ABS Speed Sensor (if any)
2.Remove the front drive shaft
3.Remove the tie rod from the steering knuckle arm
4.Raise the lower control arm to unload the rebound bumper
5.Remove the ball joint pin and nut and separate it from the knuckle.
