9.25/d44 lockright

Does anyone run a lockright in their 9.25 or in the front 44? What size tires will they hold up to... I've always been told not to go bigger than 35's with the lockrights... that if the lockright could hold up to the stress the carrier would blow. Also what kind of results have ya'll gotten with them. I think I am on the verge of throwing a lockright in both the front and rear.

I've heard that the lockrights aren't as erratic on the road as a detroit. (plus I can't afford a detroit)

I cant remember for sure. But I am almost positive my lock-right had Detroit printed on it.

Detroit makes a locker just like the loc rite...I believe it is called the EZ Locker.

But I think Mr. Joe is right, I would put a full on locker in the rear axle. Lock rites do ok, but when they are subjected to the continual forces and action of a rear application, they tend to wear down those little teeth since they are ratcheting all the time.

And don't think the lock rite is going to act any different than the full Detroit. They are both lockers and will behave similarly. Smash

Any idea on the lifespan of the lockright... I usually only run 10-15k per year.

No idea on lifespan.

I just know that most of the failures I have seen have been in rear applications and predominantly large trucks or small vehicles with large tires.

If this were going into the back of a Jeep or some other light weight vehicle with not so huge tires, I would say it would fair well. But you are trying to put one of those in the back of a fullsize pickup. It won't last all that long. Whether that means 6 months or 2 years.....

i had maybe gotten 15k miles out of mine, and about 14,900 of those miles were on the streets and highways.
total junk, anything that relies on 4 pins the diameter of a pencil to move a 3 ton truck you know is garbage.
