I had a heck of a hard time finding any real information on how to do a motor swap from a 22r to a 4.3 even though they seem to be a preferred engine swap.

So here is my attempt at a writeup.

Donor Truck: 1993 S10 Blazer w/Vortec 4.3 V6 motor. Vin type W
[Image: donor.JPG]

First things first. Had to Clean the shop.

Then made sure the engine ran. Which it did quite well.

Then for marking all wires. I put a piece of masking tape around each wire with a number on it. I took a picture of each # and wrote down where they went on the motor.

After all wires accounted for, time to start plucking them all out (what a mess)

And pull the motor:

Once motor out, time to bolt on the TH350:

and the NP203:

Altogether and look'n good.

Next for the even dirtier stuff, the Yota.

Had to pull the stock 22r out:

Sandblasted the engine compartment and re-sprayed it:

Now thats all clean, time to put in the Vortech:

Make sure the transfer case is centered with the old transfer case:

And for attaching the Mounts http://www.advancedadapters.com :

The mounts are 19.5 inches from the longest point on the frame. That gave me a little less then 2" of clearence between the firewall and the distributor. Plenty to get it on and off and run all my fuel lines.

More writeups to come:

Wiring. (done, yes, Done. the wiring harness was a beast to tame but due to a couple good mechanic friends and a nifty proggie called Shopkey Pro it was a cakewalk.)
Transfer Case X-member. (in progress)
IFS Power steering(here) & X-over steering (shipped yesterday, somewhere between MarlinCrawler and Columbus,GA)
Front Shock Hoops(same as xover) & YJ Lift springs up front.(here)
63" Chevy rears.(here)
FlatBed(in progress)

honestly, im kicking myself in the a$$ for doing the V8 swap... i wish i would have just dropped a brand new 22R and some 4.88's in it... i would have been out alot cheaper and easier...
