'79 Chevy On Rocks Buildup

Well this post will be the start up of my buildup. I bought the truck knowing the following, it had brand new 39.5" Boggers, Front 60 w/ ARB, 4.88s, and 35 Spline Inners/Outers, the Rear 60 was Disc'ed, Detroited with 4.88s. Had a built 700whp 454 and TH400 to match.

Well when I went to pick it up it had 39.5" TSLs on H1 recentereds. I was like ok because of the H1s so I kept the TSLs. Well I sold the wheels/tires for $900. The front axle I traded for a set of Rockwells. The rear axle I'm still tryin to sell.

The guy I'm getting my Rocks from has a pair of USA6X6 2.5 ton disc brake kits that I'll be getting from him eventually. I'll also eventually upgrade to the 2" shafts.

Well right now I'm tryin to figure out a capable on/off-road suspension that will fit 1 of the 3 following tires:

47" LTBs, 45x21 D.O.T Turf & Fields, or 445/65/22.5 Michelins on 22.5" Floats. Whatever I can get the cheapest and easiest is what will go on and so far it looks like the LTBs or T&Fs for me.

I'm building this truck as a mud truck, simple trails, and road driving. It has hydro a$$ist setup with the 60 but I'll be redoing everything once the Rocks are in.

Let me know what you guys think and what comments/suggestions you have.

Well I found out the brake kit I'm buying requires 20" wheels so I'm going with either 46" Michelin XLs or 46" Michelin XMLs. They will be on Stazworks or USA6X6 double beadlocks.

Well you can call bs all you want. I don't have a spec sheet but that is what I was told, I've driven the truck and I know what 700hp feels like and this is damn close. I'll make sure and get it dynoed though.

Anyway, it looks like it'll be getting 46" Claws. Going with 6" lift 56" length springs up front, with DIY4X B52s and Rear HD Shackle mount, and then for the rear going with 5.5" lift 63" length springs with DIY4X shackle flip with 7.5" shackles. The truck should flex great.

I'm definately keeping the late 70s front although I may change the headlight bezels to that of a '78. My axles and brakes should be here either wednesday or thursday of next week.

I'm getting ready to go out and start painting the truck. OLIVE DRAB BABY!!!!

What little specs I do know on the motor are ported/polished heads, edelbrock intake and carb, milodon deep sump pan, gear drive, and there are a few other things. I might tear into the engine a little farther but don't really feel like it. The engine will get replaced soon enough by a 572 with fuel injection so I'm not too concerned with this one. One of the main reasons it'll most likely get a 200 shot of the giggle gas for fun.
