700R4/NP208 questions.

Hello, I got a used 700r4 conexcted to a NP208 transfer case. The tranny has 3 wires coming out the top, what are they for? Do I need them on my old pre computer rig?

There's a small tube on top of the tranny. Breather?

The transfer case also has 2 wires coming out?

NOW: when I turned the front out put shaft while the transfer is in nuetral (I think) it makes a weird noise like chain ratcheting against the case, it doesn't make that noise in gear thoufgh. Should I tear it down for inspection?

Any helpful tips are appreciated.

If the 700R4 is anything like the TH350, which I suspect it is, the three wires are for the torque converter lock-up function. Some 350's have this, some don't.

I looked at the wires on the 700R4 in my garage and they don't come out from the same spot as on the TH350. On the 350 the three wires come out from around the torque converter, but on the 700 they are near the output shaft end on the driver's side, correct? I would think you would simply lose your lockup mode if you left them dangling. I'm sure someone here knows these trannies better than I though.

I'll have to look again, I think mine are in the middle, but drivers side. I wouldn't say they are "near the tail shaft" though. There are 2 other wires on the T-case.
