3-14, DONE! My v-10 swap process...pics.
Today after i finished up the rollcage in the Peep i started to pull the v-10 out of my 95 donor truck...to swap into my 98.
Details on the v-10...strong running v-10 even with 200,000 on it, fresh rebuilt 47RH with about 5000 on it, no anitfreeze in the oil so im pretty sure the heads are good on it, ext. cab long bed (same as my truck so exhaust will swap over), rusty as hell, sweet chameleon paint lol, its been used a abused.
Details on my 98...rust free texas truck, 360, 46RE on its last leg, great driving truck but just is about to stop driving lol.
Reason for the swap...i figured for the same price to get my 46RE rebuilt good i could buy a donor v-10 and swap motor/tranny(rebuilt in this case)/t-case. More power and a rebuilt tranny for the same price as using the little 360 with a rebuilt tranny. Yes it will take more work, but im willing to put the time in. The 95 is OBDI as the 98 is OBDII...so im not sure whats all gonna happen there, but ill do what it takes.

Really, where do you live?
I will have a set of axles forsale when im done with the swap. I dont know if ill take the rear axles out of the v-10 or not yet. But i will either have a D60/D60 combo, or a D60/D70 combo to sell when im done.
Update it for today....
Me and justin got the motor/tranny/t-case/exhaust and some other odds and ins out of the v-10 today...then pushed it back down by the shed. Next step is to get replace the valve cover gaskets and plenum gasket on it. Then get my 98 in and rip that stuff out and drop the v-10 in right away.

Change out the exhaust manifolds while you've got it out!! I would also replace the rear main seal if it looks like it's leaking. Do everything you can to that motor before you put it in, replacing sensors, plugs, etc. It will just make life easier.

Change exhaust manifolds? Why would i do that? Im not putting headers on the truck, thats more fo a PITA then what its worth. Ofcourse im going to change whatever is leaking or needs replacing while its out of the truck.
Well seeing how i start my 12hr night shift tomorrow night, work will become slower on the swap...but ill try to get it done as fast as i can.

HAHA, im no racer like you chris.
Weve never had luck with headers sealing, they always do at the start but always start leaking at the flange after a while. So i just stick with stock manifolds because i know they seal lol. The stock muffler isnt going back on it, i have a flowmaster that is going on. I may go pick up gaskets and stuff i need to replace before i have to go to work tonight. The its just tearing it apart to replace them, then get that damn 360 out lol.
Looks about right.. Might want to check the rear main seal, the bolts on mine were loose. I just tightened them. I only replaced my valve cover gaskets, but the old ones turned out to be fine. Mostly just had to tighten a lot of bolts...
