Exclamation 2002 Ford Escape 4x4 Not Engaging
Help please! My 4WD no longer works...

The Great Story
When I move the Mode Selector Switch from 'Auto' to 'On' or vise verse nothing happens at all. No noises, no lights, nothing. For those who don't know the MSS is the knob that engages 4WD, obviously.

My Uneducated Ideas
1) Test all fuses relating to 4WD system
2) Test the Mode Selector Switch
3) An AutoZone employee mentioned the actuator as being bad..no idea

Diagnostic Work Done
1) Replaced both 4x4 fuses within the Control Junction Box (fuse panel)
2) Tested the power coming to the MSS, reads 13 Volts (this is passing)

RE: 2002 Ford Escape 4x4 Not Engaging
Most truck this is the front axel, and the line/cable attaches to an actuator that engages the gears.
Ford 150 and on up...

the ford escape you have is different....

dashboard switch on AWD models locks in a 50/50 front/rear torque split. ABS is standard on XLT versions, optional on XLS
