Gang,
Took the truck out to the woods for the first time yesterday and although she ran great I noticed oil/water leaking from the axel seal (I think that is what it is called) Anyways took it apart today to replace all the seals and I am now stumped at to what to do next.
I am not sure how to get CV joint (if that is what it is called) out so I can pull the axel out to change seals and bearing.
As you can see from the middle pic I am leaking fluid pretty good. Are there any DIY pages that I could get that give me a step by step?
you have to beat that thing off. take those 6bolts completely off, but dont smack it with a hammer youll dent it. try to pry it off or use a rubber hammer. after that part comes off you can pull the axle shaft out.
i have no idea how to replace the axle seals up front. never had to

you have to get the spindles out of the knuckle, a rubber hammer will sometimes get them out or a chisel in between the knuckle and the flange, there is a tool that goes on the spindle for a slide hammer but its a special order item
to change the seal you have to pull the carrier out and the seal is in the tube, its a pain in the arse to change
Yes I was in the water...deep water to be exact! I was thinking about geting a chisel and lightly taping around the flange a little at a time to get it off. I like the idea of the slide hammer on the spindle but to be honest it looks like some brute force is going to be required to get this thing off. We have delt with water in the differentails for years on all of the woods trucks and on the swamp buggy. I want to learn how to change the seals to attempt to stop the water intrusion.

PS I want to replace all the seals and bearings on axle and where drive shaft connects. I know the hub has an inner and and outer bearing but what about the seal on the hub is there one there? Also what about the bearing and seal where the drive shaft enters?
Ok I found a slide hammer with the correct threaded female part (i think) to get the spindle out. However I had a brain fart....If I do get it out how do I get it back in? Does it need to be pressed back or just use the slide hammer to hammer it back in?
It will just tap back in, just use a chisel and hammer. It will probably take a hell of a beating to get it off. Give it a once over with a file before installing to remove any high spots along the mountaing flange. Don't nick the spindle!
