I have a 2000 jeep wrangler that I bought about 8 months ago.The jeep came with a 4 inch suspension lift. The rear control arm bushings need to be replaced. So I bought a "superkit" polyurethene bushing kit from daystar for all the control arms and some other components too. I put one bushing in the front driver side upper control arm on the differentiol side. The bushing for the side of that contol arm that goes to the frame did not fit. The new bushing is considerably too big. I assume this is due to the aftermarket control arms, although the guy on the phone told me it should still fit. The question is, how do I figure out what replacement bushings I need? I looked over the arms and didn't see any numbers or brand names. The control arms are round with a grease fitting in the middle.
If you post a picture of your control arm there is a good chance someone here will recognize it.
ok, good idea. I got a part number off the rear upper driver side control arm bushing and it is m02247. I'm going to google it and see what I come up with. Pictures will be posted in the following few days.
I think this is what I am looking for. Same part number. I am going to order one set to see if they fit. I noticed when I took the bushing out that the bolt hole in the frame mount is a little bit egged out. I am assuming this is because the bushings are shot? Is this going to be a problem in the future? The reason I assume the bushings are shot is because when I let the clutch out, the control arm moves slightly foward and back.
If it wasn't the bolt moving back in forth in the hole when you release the clutch then I would think you are correct about worn bushings. Without seeing how bad the hole in the mount is damaged it’s hard to tell if you should repair it or not.
I am going to repair the holes by getting thick flat washers that fit snug on the bolt and weld the washers to the frame mounts. I ordered one set of bushings to see if they are definetly what I need. I may repair the mounts and see what the play then looks like before I waist money replacing all the bushings if I don't need to. From what i'm learning, the polyurethene bushings shouldn't wear out.
